    • Dermatology departments at one of the medical schools are asked to use the online form to register any medical students who will be attending. A faculty member must be the sponsor for the student/guest.  Please observe the normal registration deadlines!  It is your responsibility to let the medical student know the details for the meeting location and time.
  • Guests - All guests must be physicians, medical students or research associates accompanied by a member.  They need to pre-register using the paper form. The registration fee for guests is $35.  CLICK HERE for a PDF copy of the form (may be completed on your computer and then printed out).

Please note this important dealine:  Registrations submitted after 8 a.m. Monday, April 18, are considered "late."  After that time, advance registrations will be closed; please contact the CDS office if you wish to submit a late registration.

This Month's Guest Speaker

Dr. ZacharyChristopher Zachary, MD 
Professor and Chair of the Department of Dermatology at the University of California
Irvine, CA 

Dr. Christopher Zachary is a dermatologist who specializes in skin cancer and reconstruction, cosmetic and laser surgery. A professor and chair of the Department of Dermatology at UC Irvine, Zachary is a frequent speaker at national and international symposia and is often contact by the media (e.g., NY Times, CNN, Today Show) for commentary about dermatologic issues and treatments. He is a past president of the Association of Academic Dermatologic Surgeons. An educational innovator, he has written and edited numerous papers and books.

Zachary was born in Yorkshire, England. After completing medical school at the Royal Free Hospital, University of London, he trained in Internal Medicine and Dermatology. At the Institute of Dermatology, Guys and St. Thomas' Hospitals, he gained an interest in dermatological surgery. He completed his formal dermatological surgical education at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. 

Zachary returned to London to set up the first Mohs and laser skin surgery practice. In 1988, he became director of the University of Minnesota's Cutaneous Surgery and Laser Center. In 1997, he became a clinical professor and co-director of the Dermatologic Surgery and Laser Center at UC San Francisco Medical Center. In 2005, he accepted the position as professor and chair of the Department of Dermatology at the UC Irvine Health School of Medicine.

The December meeting take place on the 6th floor of the Gleacher Center, the University of Chicago's business school conference center in downtown Chicago.  It is located at 450 Cityfront Plaza Drive on the Chicago River west of Columbus Drive.  The NBC Tower is immediately adjacent to the Gleacher Center.

So that we can better plan the meeting, please register no later than 8:00 a.m. on April 18.  Registrations received after that time are considered late.  Annual CDS dues includes attendance at the monthly meeting.  There is no charge for members in good standing.    Residents & fellows in training are not charged, and they are automatically registered for each meeting.  (Residents who are unable to attend are asked to contact the CDS office so we can make the appropriate adjustments.)

Educational Items

Course Director:  Julie Moore, MD

Target Audience:  Practicing dermatologists, dermatology residents and fellows.

Objectives:  At the conclusion of the 2015/16 series of lectures, the participant should be able to:

1. Discuss key factors in the diagnosis and treatment for a variety of dermatologic diseases and conditions, including psoriasis, hair disorders, and dermatological symptoms of systemic diseases.

2. Describe the manifestation of skin cancers and the efficacy of treatments available to the dermatologist.

3. List the therapeutic options available to the dermatologist for a variety of skin diseases, both medical and surgical, and discuss how new emerging treatments can be successfully incorporated into a dermatology practice.

Conference participants are asked to turn in their CME attendance form and evaluation form before leaving the meeting.  A CME credit certificate will be mailed following the conference.  Residents also must return the attendance form in order to be marked "present."  Thank you for your assistance in this important activity.
