  •  Residents & Dermatology Fellows -- At the request of your department chair, all residents are automatically registered.  However if you are not attending, please contact the CDS office by email - Rich@ChicagoDerm.org  so we can take you off the list.

  • Medical Students:  Register Medical Students Here 
    • Dermatology departments at one of the medical schools are asked to use the online form to register any medical students who will be attending. A faculty member must be the sponsor for the student/guest.  Please observe the normal registration deadlines!  It is your responsibility to let the medical student know the details for the meeting location and time.
  • Guests - All guests must be physicians, medical students or research associates accompanied by a member.  They need to pre-register using the paper form. The registration fee for guests is $35.  CLICK HERE for a PDF copy of the form (may be completed on your computer and then printed out).

Please note this important deadline:  Registrations submitted after 8 a.m. Monday, December 11 are considered "late."  After that time, advance registrations will be closed; please contact the CDS office if you wish to submit a late registration.

 


This Month's Guest Speaker

Tammie Ferringer, MD
Section Head, Dermatopathology

Director, Dermatopathology Fellowship Program
Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA

Dr. Ferringer is the dermatopathology section head for the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA.  She also serves as the director of the Dermatopathology Fellowship Program.  Dr. Ferringer earned her medical degree at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and completed her residency in dermatology at Geisinger.  Dr. Ferringer completed a fellowship in dermatopathology at the Medical UUniversity of South Carolina in Charleston.  She is board-certified in dermatology and dermatopathology.  She is the associate editor of Cutis, and is the assistant editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.  Dr. Ferringer serves on numerous committees and has many publications to her credit.

Gleacher Center

The December meeting take place on the 6th floor of the Gleacher Center, the University of Chicago's business school conference center in downtown Chicago.  It is located at 450 Cityfront Plaza Drive on the Chicago River west of Columbus Drive.  The NBC Tower is immediately adjacent to the Gleacher Center.

So that we can better plan the meeting, please register no later than 8 a.m. on Monday, December 11.  Registrations received after that time are considered late.  Attendees who pre-register will be guaranteed a protocol book and lunch.  Those who register late normally will receive these items, but it is not guaranteed.

Annual CDS dues includes attendance at the monthly meeting.  There is no charge for members in good standing.    Residents & fellows in training are not charged, and they are automatically registered for each meeting.  (Residents who are unable to attend are asked to contact the CDS office so we can make the appropriate adjustments.)

Educational Items

Course Director:  Rebecca Tung, MD

Target Audience:  Practicing dermatologists, dermatology residents and fellows.

Objectives:  At the conclusion of the 2017/18 series of lectures, the participant should be able to:

1. Discuss key factors in the diagnosis and treatment for a viral diseases and bacterial infections with dermatological involvement.

2. Describe the manifestation of skin cancers and the efficacy of treatments available to the dermatologist.

3. List the therapeutic options available to the dermatologist for a variety of skin diseases, both medical and surgical, and discuss how new emerging treatments can be successfully incorporated into a dermatology practice.

Conference participants are asked to turn in their CME attendance form and evaluation form before leaving the meeting.  A CME credit certificate will be mailed following the conference.  Residents also must return the attendance form in order to be marked "present."  Thank you for your assistance in this important activity.
