Northwestern Study of Keloid Scarring Study: Participants Invited 

Northwestern’s Department of Dermotology is doing a research study to better understand the causes of keloid scars.

Researchers would also like to identify the genes that cause keloid scarring among different people and develop better ways to treat them.

We are looking for participants who:

  • Are 18 years or older, and
  • Have keloid scars that have not been treated within the last 6 months

Your participation in this study will last up to 8 months. There will be a total of 6 in-person study visits at Northwestern in downtown Chicago. You will also have to:

  • Complete questionnaires,
  • Provide Blood and skin samples, and
  • Provide keloid or no-keloid skin samples

Participants will be compensated for their time and participation. All referred patients will remain under your care except for the study-related medical attention.
