Meeting Information & Registration

Important Notice to Members -- Please be aware of the schedule for this meeting!  The University of Chicago conference will take place at the Gleacher Center (downtown) on a Wednesday.  This also is a new location.  CLICK HERE for parking and transportation information.  Unfortunately, we have been unable to secure group discounted parking, although there is "early bird" and other options available at area public lots.

Member registration: Members in good standing may use the online registration form  (log-in required) 
Please note this important deadline:  Registrations submitted after 8 a.m. Monday, December 1st, are considered "late."  After that time, advance registrations will be closed; please note that late registrations do not guarantee receipt of a protocol book or lunch! 

Residents & Dermatology Fellows:  At the request of your department chair, all residents and clinical fellows training at one of the Chicago area medical school departments are automatically registered.  However if you are not attending, please contact the CDS office by email ([email protected]) so we can take you off the list.  (UW and SIU residents are registered separately.)

Medical Students:Dermatology departments at one of the medical schools must to use this online form to register any medical students who will be attending.  Be sure to note the December 1 deadline for submitting registrations.

Guests:  All guests must be physicians, medical students or research associates accompanied by a member.  They need to pre-register online or you can use the paper form.  Pre-registration of all guests is required.  We are unable to admit any "walk-in" guests.  Thank you for your understanding.
     The registration fee for guests is $35.

CME Claim:  Our joint sponsor for continuing medical education credit is the Colorado Foundation for Medical Care .  In order to receive your CME credits, please be sure to sign the attendance sheet at the meeting.  We are no longer using the online claim system.   Your credit certificate will be mailed to you following the conference.

Wayne Grayson, MBChB, PhD, FCPath

Pathologist, AMPATH
Honorary Professor of Pathology, School of Pathology, University of the Witwatersrand
Johannesburg, South Africa

Professor Wayne Grayson obtained his MBChBat the University of the Free State in 1989, and his PhD at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2001. In 1995 he obtained his FCPath (Anatomical) at the College of Medicine of South Africa.

Since 2008 he has been Consultant Anatomical Pathologist and Dermatopathologist with AMPATH National Laboratories. He is Honorary Associate Professor of Pathology, School of Pathology, at the University of the Witwatersrand. Professor Grayson has been the recipient of numerous awards, among them the SAIMR James Gear Prize for the most distinguished graduate in Pathology (1995) and the SAIMR Neville Proctor prize for the best anatomical Pathology research publication in 2009.

Meeting Site

The December meeting take place on the 6th floor of the Gleacher Center, the University of Chicago's business school conference center in downtown Chicago.  It is located at 450 Cityfront Plaza Drive on the Chicago River west of Columbus Drive.  The NBC Tower is immediately adjacent to the Gleacher Center.

 Educational Items

Course Director:  Lawrence Chan, MD

Target Audience:  Practicing dermatologists, dermatology residents and fellows.

Objectives:  At the conclusion of the 2014/15 series of lectures, the participant should be able to:

1. Discuss key factors in the diagnosis and treatment for a variety of dermatologic diseases and conditions, including psoriasis, hair disorders, and dermatological symptoms of systemic diseases.

2. Describe the manifestation of skin cancers and the efficacy of treatments available to the dermatologist.

3. List the therapeutic options available to the dermatologist for a variety of skin diseases, both medical and surgical, and discuss how new emerging treatments can be successfully incorporated into a dermatology practice.
