  •  Residents & Dermatology Fellows -- At the request of your department chair, all residents are automatically registered.  However if you are not attending, please contact the CDS office by email - [email protected]  so we can take you off the list.

  • Medical Students:  Register Medical Students Here 
    • Dermatology departments at one of the medical schools are asked to use the online form to register any medical students who will be attending. A faculty member must be the sponsor for the student/guest.  Please observe the normal registration deadlines!  It is your responsibility to let the medical student know the details for the meeting location and time.
  • Guests - All guests must be physicians, medical students or research associates accompanied by a member.  They need to pre-register using the paper form. The registration fee for guests is $35.  CLICK HERE for a PDF copy of the form (may be completed on your computer and then printed out).

Please note this important deadline:  Registrations submitted after 8 a.m. Monday, November 12 are considered "late."  After that time, advance registrations will be closed; please contact the CDS office if you wish to submit a late registration.

This Month's Guest Speaker

Dr. Garg is board certified in Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology. He comes to the Northwell Health from Boston University Medical Center, where he directed the Residency Training Program in Dermatology as well as the undergraduate medical curricula in dermatology for the school of medicine. Dr. Garg has achieved international recognition as a skilled medical dermatologist, a thought leader in psoriasis, and a medical educator.

Dr. Garg's subspecialty expertise is interdisciplinary based in caring for patients with autoimmune and inflammatory conditions including psoriasis, lupus, dermatomyositis, and vasculitis.

Dr. Garg's research interests include developing instruments and assessing clinical and patient centered outcomes in psoriasis and hidradenitis suppurativa. He has also developed innovative teaching strategies to improve training and education outcomes. Dr. Garg s recent research has focused on improving teaching and assessment methods in undergraduate and graduate medical education, as well as narrowing the practice gaps related to the skin cancer examination through increasing awareness of high risk patient groups, promoting integration of the skin cancer exam into the routine or focused physical exam, and enabling detection of suspicious pigmented lesions.

Dr. Garg has had leadership roles within prominent national professional organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Board of Dermatology, the Association of Professors of Dermatology, the Medical Dermatological Society, the National Psoriasis Foundation, the Hidradenitis Suppurativa Foundation, the Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis, and the International Dermatology Outcome Measures group. He is a member of Dermatology s Residency Review Committee of ACGME. 

Dr. Garg has served on editorial boards for journals as well as American Academy of Dermatology based publications. He is also the editor-in-chief of the forthcoming first edition book on Rheumatic Skin Diseases. He has published a number of articles in the peer-reviewed literature and has authored several book chapters. Dr. Garg has been awarded the 2016 Thomas G. Pearson, EdD Memorial Education Award by the American Academy of Dermatology.

Gleacher Center

The November meeting take place on the 6th floor of the Gleacher Center, the University of Chicago's business school conference center in downtown Chicago.  It is located at 450 Cityfront Plaza Drive on the Chicago River west of Columbus Drive.  The NBC Tower is immediately adjacent to the Gleacher Center.

So that we can better plan the meeting, please register no later than 8 a.m. on Monday, November 12.  Registrations received after that time are considered late.  Attendees who pre-register will be guaranteed a protocol book and lunch.  Those who register late normally will receive these items, but it is not guaranteed.

Annual CDS dues includes attendance at the monthly meeting.  There is no charge for members in good standing.    Residents & fellows in training are not charged, and they are automatically registered for each meeting.  (Residents who are unable to attend are asked to contact the CDS office so we can make the appropriate adjustments.)

Educational Items

Course Director:  Victoria Barbosa, MD MPH

Target Audience:  Practicing dermatologists, dermatology residents and fellows.

Conference participants are asked to turn in their CME attendance form and evaluation form before leaving the meeting.  A CME credit certificate will be mailed following the conference.  Residents also must return the attendance form in order to be marked "present."  Thank you for your assistance in this important activity.
