  •  Residents & Dermatology Fellows -- At the request of your department chair, all residents are automatically registered.  However if you are not attending, please contact the CDS office by email - [email protected]  so we can take you off the list.

  • Medical Students:  Register Medical Students Here 
    • Dermatology departments at one of the medical schools are asked to use the online form to register any medical students who will be attending. A faculty member must be the sponsor for the student/guest.  Please observe the normal registration deadlines!  It is your responsibility to let the medical student know the details for the meeting location and time.  Also, we strongly encourage you to have a faculty member or resident be responsible for greeting and escorting your medical student guest during the meeting to make them feel welcome.
  • Guests - All guests must be physicians, medical students or research associates accompanied by a member.  They need to pre-register using the paper form. The registration fee for guests is $35.  CLICK HERE for a PDF copy of the form (may be completed on your computer and then printed out).

Please note this important deadline:  Registrations submitted after 8 a.m. Monday, October 15, are considered "late."  After that time, advance registrations will be closed; please contact the CDS office if you wish to submit a late registration.


This Month's Guest Speaker



Harvey Lui, MD
Head of the Department of Dermatology and Skin Science
University of British Columbia

Vancouver, BC, Canada

Dr. Lui has been the Medical Director of The Skin Care Centre, the Lions Laser Skin Centre, and the Psoriasis & Phototherapy Clinic since 1994. He is also the Head of the Department of Dermatology and Skin Science at the University of British Columbia.  After receiving his Bachelor of Science, Medical Degree, and Dermatology specialization from the University of British Columbia, Dr. Lui was a Clinical Fellow at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School.  He is a member of the American Board of Dermatology and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. Along with his duties at The Skin Care Centre and UBC, he is also on staff at the BC Cancer Agency and the BC Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Lui has been the principal investigator in over 35 research projects, has published over 70 journal articles and over 80 abstracts, is the chair or moderator of many dermatological conferences, and is an editor and reviewer for several international dermatology journals.  He also is the current Director of the CIHR Skin Research Training Centre and the VGH Photomedicine Institute. His clinical and research interests include lasers, photomedicine, psoriasis, vitiligo, and dermatologic education.

Gleacher Center

The October meeting take place on the 6th floor of the Gleacher Center, the University of Chicago's business school conference center in downtown Chicago.  It is located at 450 Cityfront Plaza Drive on the Chicago River west of Columbus Drive.  The NBC Tower is immediately adjacent to the Gleacher Center.

So that we can better plan the meeting, please register no later than 8:00 a.m. on October 8.  Registrations received after that time are considered late.  Annual CDS dues includes attendance at the monthly meeting.  There is no charge for members in good standing.    Residents & fellows in training are not charged, and they are automatically registered for each meeting.  (Residents who are unable to attend are asked to contact the CDS office so we can make the appropriate adjustments.)

Educational Items

Course Director:  Victoria Barbosa, MD MPH

Target Audience:  Practicing dermatologists, dermatology residents and fellows.

Conference participants are asked to turn in their CME attendance form and evaluation form before leaving the meeting.  A CME credit certificate will be mailed following the conference.  Residents also must return the attendance form in order to be marked "present."  Thank you for your assistance in this important activity.
