CDS continues our regular educational conference this month in the form of an online webinar.  The December monthly conference will take place on Wednesday morning, December 2nd.  Our guest lecturer is Lindy P. Fox, MD, from the University of California-San Francisco.  She will be giving two lectures, and in between, the University of Chicago residents will be presenting cases. Our usual breakout sessions will take place following the second lecture to finish the final hour of the morning.

As in previous virtual conferences, the sessions will be recorded to allow members the opportunity to view it at a later time.

Breakout Sessions --  After the main conference, we will be offering the opportunity to participate in one of four "breakout sessions" as noted below.  You will be asked on the registration form to select one of the breakouts, or none.  Each session will be moderated, but it's intended for open conversation as a way for CDS members to stay connected with each other.  We hope you like this offering!

Note -- Medical students registered as guests will be automatically assigned to the "medical student" breakout.  Attendance is optional.

  • MEDICAL STUDENTS -- Students are invited to join an open discussion with a dermatology faculty member.
  • CASE DISCUSSIONS -- Continue discussing the cases presented during the conference, or bring up your own cases to pick the brains of your colleagues.
  • PRACTICE CHALLENGES -- What issues are you facing in your practice, or share with your colleagues some innovations or ideas that have proven to be successful in your own office..
  • RESIDENTS -- An open forum for residents.

This Month's Guest Speaker

Lindy P. Fox, MD
Professor of Dermatology, University of California - San Francisco
School of Medicine; San Francisco, CA

Lindy P. Fox, MD is a dermatologist who cares for patients in the hospital with complex skin conditions.

Dr. Fox's research focuses on the impact of dermatologists have in the hospital setting. Her work has helped define this subspecialty within dermatology. She studies continuity of care for hospitalized patients with skin conditions, and she looks at how emerging patterns or new associations of skin diseases are recognized, documented and defined.

Dr. Fox earned her medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. She completed her residency in dermatology at New York – Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center.  She is president of both the Medical Dermatology Society and Society for Dermatology Hospitalists, and is secretary-treasurer of the Pacific Dermatologic Association. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and Dermatology Foundation.

Meeting Format

Because of meeting restrictions currently in place due to the coronavirus public health situation, CDS is offering our guest lecture and resident case presentations in the form of an online webinar.  Participants will be able to ask questions, and you will be able to hear the speakers through your computer or by telephone.  You can ask a question by posting the chat box.
Following the "main" part of the conference, several breakout sessions will take place providing the opportunity to have further discussion on particular topics, and to stay connected with your colleagues.  We hope you will find these sessions to be enjoyable.
